On June 2018, Ittipol Khunpluem, Vice Minister to The Prime Minister’s Office has presided over the seminar entitled The Sustainable Golf Course in Thailand 2018 held at The Grand Fourwings Convention Hotel.

At the event, he said the government and the Sports and Tourism Ministry have well realized the importance of the overall sports industry and golf development for the tourism purpose now that the effort is considered a direct answer to stimulate not only more youths but also people to play sports especially golf in which a number of Thai golfers make fame, inspiring young people to play in pursuit.

Moreover, there are a growing number of foreigners who visit Thailand not only for tourism but also playing golf, raising accordingly income to Thai people.

“The government sees this important and offers a full support in preparing knowledge on hospitality services and in-depth golf course management and development to conform with the national tourism and sports development plan,” Mr Ittipol said. “We hopefully expect the seminar will help upgrade the overall golf industry development.”

Currently, Thailand’s golf industry has enjoyed a drastic growth, with more than 260 golf courses in place nationwide capable of organizing not only the domestic tournament but also international competition.

It is expected that in the foreseeable future there will be a greater and closer cooperation among existing golf courses and then the seminar is believed to result in a further development to the industry and the country’s overall economy.

Lt Col Ruj Sang-Udom, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand’s (SAT), said the SAT is proposing to organize more tournaments for Asian juniors and The Ladies Asian Golf Tour.

The authority also plans to quest for hosting more competition programmes so as to provide special events for Thai young players to compete.
