According to Tanes Petsuwan, TAT’s Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications who addresses Thailand’s marketing communications direction in 2019, in a continuous move to attract international quality visitors to spend more in Thailand the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a new Amazing Thailand’s ‘Open to the New Shades’ communication concept for 2019. The campaign primarily covers five main travel sectors: Gastronomy, Arts and Crafts, Thai Culture, Nature and Thai Way of Life.
Thailand aims at becoming the world’s ultimate destination for sports tourism
Sports tourism and gastronomy are designated to become the key drivers for Thailand’s tourism in 2019 after the country’s cultural tourism is widely recognised by international tourists that Thailand is now very strong in culture-based tourism.
For sports tourism campaign, Thailand has positioned itself as the world ’s dream destination for the sports tourism by promoting the kingdom’s world-class sporting facilities, wide-ranging expertise, and reputation for hosting successful regional and international sporting events and tournaments. October 2018 will be an important period when Thailand is scheduled to kick off sports tourism campaign by promoting Thailand as the world’s new dream destination for sports.
Four popular sports on sales.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand sees four Thai traditional sports that could potentially help support and promote the country’s tourism. They are Muay Thai (Thai boxing), marathon, cycling and golf.
Golf is one of the sports events the TAT has promoted on a continuous basis for years now that Thai golf courses are fully capable of organising the world-class tournaments. More importantly, Thailand now boasts several world-class players such as professional golfer Ariya Jutanugarn or Pro May who is also Thailand Golf Ambassador.
The TAT itself has also planned to team up with the Sports Authority of Thailand to consider hosting more international-level sports competition and the world’s sports events so that the TAT could develop further the sports marketing campaign for tourism purpose.
